I've heard lots of good things about this whisky and it's only £23.99 from Amazon right now. It's a 100% corn whisky made in South Africa that is aged for 3 years in 1st fill bourbon barrels and then transferred again into 1st fill bourbon barrels for another 18-30 months.

I can't wait to try this and review it on my YouTube channel.

Dewar's Caribbean Smooth 8 year old blended scotch whisky. This is a distillery exclusive in the UK. It's finished in rum casks to give it a smooth and sweet flavour.

Whisky can sometimes surprise you. I first tasted this blind and swore it was a Scotch. This peated whisky from @pauljohnwhisky is made in Goa, India and is lovely. It's 46% and non-chill filtered. I was lucky enough to win it in a competition run by @whiskyhebdo and @whiskyshopparis.

It looks like I've been a good boy this year. Bimber clearly found out that I was on the nice list and sent me a sample of this Santa's Edition 2023. It's been aged in an ex-congnac cask and is bottled at 52.1% abv. They also sent me a branded glass to add to the collection. Looking forward to trying this soon and sharing my notes with you.

I’m very excited to bring you my tasting notes of the brand new Pedro Ximinez finished blend from @raerwhisky. Check it out below!

Raer Pedro Ximinez Blended Expression
£42 40% ABV - First fill sherry casks

Appearance: Burnished
The nose doesn’t give off as much intensity as the palate. The palate is unsurprisingly spicy for the ABV and complements the sherry finish well. A little spritely too.

Nose: Figs, pepper, toasted almonds, raisins, ethanol, red grape skins

Palate: Dark soaked fruits, pepper, creamy chocolate, vanilla, brown sugar, honey, toasted cereal, orchard fruits

Finish: Medium length. Heat, pepper, chocolate, dry oak

This is my first taste from @raerwhisky. It’s surprising for a 40% whisky and I’m interested to try more from this brand. Looking forward to what their single malt will be like once the liquid from the Jackton distillery comes of age. I’m also looking forward to visiting in the near future.

This is the October 2022 bottle from the Summerton Whisky Club.

It's the Americana Small Batch Bourbon. It's one of 1,277 bottles, it's non-chill filtered and 48.4%.

It's another first for the club and one you can't get anywhere else.

A great line up at Cut Your Wolf Loose in Brighton yesterday for their 1 year anniversary. My favourite was their first release, a 10 year old Williamson, finished in a vino de color cask. Yum!

It was a great night learning new things about whisky and spending it with great company.

Mackmyra Limousin.

This is the final seasonal release from Mackmyra in Sweden.

It's a single malt whisky aged in French oak cognac casks, amongst others.

It's available in 70cl, bottled at 46.1% ABV and retails for £62.

Coachbuilt Build No. 001

When I saw this whisky collaboration with @jensonbutton I didn't pause before buying it. As a big F1 fan this really caught my attention. The bottle design is simple and unique and the presentation well thought out. The bottle arrived in a technical drawing which adds to the Coachbuilt heritage.

I'm really looking forward to tasting this blend which draws its liquid from all the Scottish whisky regions. I'll also look to review it on my YouTube channel soon.

Fettercairn Whisky. I had my first taste of this whisky last night as part of a Tweet Tasting. It’s definitely a nice whisky, even the 12 yo at 40%. The fourth unlabelled dram is a future release that was distilled in 2015 and matured in a combination of ex-Bourbon barrels, Rum barrels and French Red Wine.

Have you tried any of these? Are you a fan?

Here are my tasting notes.

Fettercairn 12, 40%

Nose: Orchard fruits like green apples, a hint of pear drops, digestive biscuits, rhubarb, honey, vanilla pods, wet grass.

Palate: light to start, damp wood, orchard fruit, fizzy, green apple, honey, a hint of yeast (umami), lemon sherbert.

Finish: short to medium, aniseed, honey, lemon sherbert, charred oak, powdered sugar, a little heat and pepper.

Fettercairn 16, 46.4%

Nose: Yeasty, honey, lemon, nail polish remover, there a funkiness in there too. Apples and some pineapple too.

Palate: Nice thick mouthfeel, There's a funk like diesel oil that quickly dissipates leaving a fresh fruity and zesty note instead. There's a maltiness too. The fruits are apple, pineapple and lemon. Menthol, toffee fudge, fizzy, citrus, ginger.

Finish: Medium in length, fizzy with a little heat, damp wood, lemon sherbert, tropical fruits and some soaked dark fruits.

Fettercairn 22, 47%

Nose: Nail polish remover, pear drops, heather honey, sour apple sweets, buttery biscuit, oats, toffee, a hint of cherry, orange peel.

Palate: Orange, lots of orange. Nail polish remover, fizzy, chargrilled pineapple, heat, pepper, lots of dry charred oak, nice mouthfeel, not too thick. There's a nice unctuous savoury note to this too that I just can't finger!

Finish: Long, vanilla, chargrilled pineapple, fizzy sherbert, a little heat, menthol, peach sorbet.

Fettercairn Future Release 50.6%

Nose: Toffee caramel sauce, green apples, oatcakes, furniture polish, petrichor, contact adhesive, well-used casks.

Palate: Lots of charred oak, slightly damp, heat, fizzy, apple sweets, slightly metallic, menthol, a little funk, chargrilled pineapple, peaches, cloves.

Finish: cloves, damp wood, heat, fizzy, cream, menthol.

Sliabh Liag The Legendary Dark Silkie Irish Whiskey.

This triple distilled peated single malt is matured in sherry casks and bottled at 46%.

I tried this at the @summertonclub Virtual Whisky Festival and when I saw it on offer, I decided to pick up a bottle.

Visited the Cotswolds distillery today for my birthday. The place is great to visit for any whisky fan (or gin for that matter). Had lunch in the café beforehand. The food and presentation was first class.

The tour and tasting lasted about an hour and we got to see where it's all made and bottled. We got to try their White Pheasant new make spirit in the barrel warehouse. Nice and potent at barrel filling strength of 63.5% ABV. At the end of the tour, we were presented with a sample of whisky and gin before having free reign on any of the products they make. Our tour guide, Stella, was very helpful and knowledgeable.

I treated myself to a bottle of the new Bourbon Cask, a bottle of the distillery exclusive hand-fill PX cask and a bottle of their sweet vermouth.

I was recently sent a sample from a new subscription to share my thoughts. Obviously there's two parts to share with you about this new service from @whiskypioneer.

Firstly, the service is a whisky sample by post for £7.95 per month (you can get a 50% discount on your first delivery using code PIONEER50). You get a 50ml sample (sometimes 60ml) of mostly single malt whisky but you'll also get other styles from time to time.

What makes them stand out is their focus on sustainability. They've teamed up with Prevented Ocean Plastic to create 100% recycled bottles which are 100% reusable and 100% recyclable. As a bonus, if you return 10 empty bottles, they'll send you a free dram as a reward.

Secondly, the dram they sent was something new and interesting. Masthouse whisky from the Copper Rivet distillery. It's an English whisky based in Chatham, Kent. This whisky is fairly unique in the fact it comes from a single harvest, local to the distillery and is firstly distilled in a pot still before being distilled a second time in a column still. It's bottled at 45% ABV and retails for around £45 for a 50cl bottle.

On the nose, I get juniper, lemon, cardamon, icing sugar, floral notes, leather, vanilla, celery and banana bread.

On the palate, creamy vanilla, apple, pepper, baking spices, nutty, biscuit, hint of citrus

It has a short finish with dry wood, vanilla, nutty.

It reminds me of a gin on the nose and a blended Irish whiskey on the palate. It certainly is an interesting dram and I'm interested to see what they send out in future deliveries.

These beauties just arrived. They are the first bottles from Vin at No Nonsense Whisky. It's a great time for his YouTube channel, having recently hit 10K subscribers. There's no better way to mark this milestone and support the channel, than to buy both of his independent whisky releases.

The first is a 9 year old Dalmore bottled at 60.4%. The second is a 6 year old Aberfeldy bottled at 59.8%.

I'm looking forward to cracking these open soon.

This is a collaboration with the London Whisky Club and Thompson Brothers. It's a 10 year old Caol Ila distilled in 2010 and aged in ex-bourbon casks. It's bottled at 54.2% ABV and is one of 294 bottles.

The artwork represents jellied eels and the Elizabeth Tower and was designed by Katie Guthrie.

Being a member of the London Whisky Club means I was able to buy these exclusive bottles and I can't wait to crack them open and enjoy a dram.

Looking forward to opening this Three Ships 12 year old single malt South African whisky.

It's the first of its kind to be released in the UK by this distillery. It's from Andy Watts, the Master Distiller's Private Collection.

It's natural colour, non-chillfiltered and bottled at 46.3% ABV.

As it's Compass Box's 20th anniversary, I thought I'd review some more from them. In this week's YouTube review, is the Artist's Blend from the Great King Street range.

This is a blended whisky that is non-chillfiltered and uncoloured and bottled at 43% ABV. It's available in both 50cl and 70cl bottles and like all Compass Box whiskies, you can find what goes into each bottle on their website.

Compass Box, The Spice Tree.

My latest review has landed and it's my first taste of Compass Box.

The Spice Tree is also known as the illegal malt due to it going against Scotch Whisky Association rules. This version however, has been made to the same flavour profile whilst keeping the SWA happy.

Bimber Selfridges exclusive bottling.

This whisky was first aged in ex-bourbon barrels and then finished in a 2010 González Byass Oloroso Sherry butt which yelled 936 bottles. It is bottled at 51.5%.

The presentation tube and bottle label is adorned with artwork inspired by the work of Dutch artist and sculptor Eelke van Willegen.

The latest release from Bimber London Whisky Distillery.

This single malt whisky has started out life in ex-bourbon casks before being finished in heavily peated ex-Islay quarter casks.

This whisky has the typical Bimber DNA with a light peat note that doesn't dominate.

Beeble is a honey drink brand. They make a honey liqueur from local honey and blended Scotch whisky from @strathearn_distillery.

I first spotted this on @the_world_of_whiskey_uk and having recently made my own honey liqueur I wanted to see what this was like. I also bought a jar of their honey 🍯. It's a great way to support small business during these tough times. @beebleco

Whilst browsing the internet I came across a range of vinegar. Not just any vinegar, but craft vinegar from Orkney in Scotland. What caught my eye though was the mention of Highland Park.

This particular vinegar is made by @orkneycraftvinegar using a proportion of peated malt from the Highland Park distillery. It is then aged in their sherry seasoned whisky casks to impart further flavour.

I'm not sure whether I drink it from a Glencairn glass or pour it on my food but I'm hoping it tastes nice.

My latest whisky coin. This one's from the Sussex Whisky Appreciation Group or S.W.A.G. for short. Even though they started as a group for local whisky enthusiasts, lockdown has seen their virtual tastings go nationwide.

Latest delivery from @summertonclub. This is a single cask Glen Ord from @thesinglecask. This is a Diageo owned whisky that often goes into blends and can also be found under the @thesingletonwhisky brand name.

I've never tried Glen Ord but have tried some other bottlings from The Single Cask brand. If this is on a par with those, then it's going to be good.

It seems I'm having a bourbon kinda Father's Day. My kids both bought me a bourbon. I've had the Buffalo Trace before and love how sweet it is. I've not had the Old Forester so I'm looking forward to trying this one.

Sometimes there just aren't enough bottles to go around. Bimber's latest single cask releases sold out in around 6 minutes! I was lucky enough to grab a bottle of Sherry Cask #42. However, many weren't. I saw the disappointment from many members of the Bimber Appreciation Society on Facebook, so decided to share my bottle with 10 of them. These samples have been put in the post today going as far afield as Italy.

Delivery from @bimberdistillery. I was lucky enough to get hold of at least one single cask bottle from the recent releases along with the more readily available Ex-bourbon Oak Casks bottle.

I was lucky enough to try the Ex-bourbon at the @summertonclub Virtual Whisky Festival and I knew I had to get a bottle when it was released.

I've heard lots of good things about this whisky and it's only £23.99 from Amazon right now. It's a 100% corn whisky made in South Africa that is aged for 3 years in 1st fill bourbon barrels and then transferred again into 1st fill bourbon barrels for another 18-30 months.

I can't wait to try this and review it on my YouTube channel.

Dewar's Caribbean Smooth 8 year old blended scotch whisky. This is a distillery exclusive in the UK. It's finished in rum casks to give it a smooth and sweet flavour.

Whisky can sometimes surprise you. I first tasted this blind and swore it was a Scotch. This peated whisky from @pauljohnwhisky is made in Goa, India and is lovely. It's 46% and non-chill filtered. I was lucky enough to win it in a competition run by @whiskyhebdo and @whiskyshopparis.
