Returning to the Heart of the Channel

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share an honest update regarding the future of the channel and where my head is at. After 561 videos since February 2019, I’ve realized that I’ve been moving at an unsustainable pace. For 7 years, I’ve averaged a new video every single week.

Lately, it has started to feel more like a "grind" than a journey. I've found myself chasing the algorithm—buying bottles based on what might be popular rather than what I’m genuinely curious about. To keep the joy of whisky alive, I need to make some changes.

The Plan for February: A Total Reset

I am officially taking the month of February off.

  • No Content: There will be no new video releases during the month.

  • The Goal: I’ll be spending this time tasting, making notes, and rediscovering the whiskies I actually want to talk about, without the pressure of a camera or a deadline.

What’s Next: A New Way of Working

When I return in March, things will look a little different. I am moving away from a fixed upload schedule to a "quality and passion" model:

  • Authenticity First: I will only release a video when I have something I genuinely want to share.

  • New Cadence: You can expect roughly two videos a month, possibly more, but only when the content is right.

  • Consistency: When a video does drop, it will always be on a Friday.

Coming in March

I’m excited to kick things off again in March, which will be Irish Whiskey Month on the channel. I’m looking forward to sharing some great pours from the Emerald Isle with you.

Thank you for being part of this journey. This break is about making sure I can continue to share my love for whisky with you for many more years to come, for all the right reasons.

Cheers,

Toby / Whisky Shared

P.S. I'd love to hear any suggestions from you. If you have ideas for content that you would like me to investigate, let me know in the comments.
